Who would benefit from this course?

The online course provides you the flexibility of studying from your own home, at your own pace. It is ideal for qualified yoga teachers, recent teacher training graduates or those still completing their yoga teacher training who want to specialise in the growing field of prenatal and postnatal yoga.

The course is also enjoyable and informative for keen yoga practitioners who are pregnant or new mothers. It will help to deepen your knowledge of how yoga can support you during these new and exciting stages in your life.

What accreditation is offered?

A Completion Certificate is provided once you've completed all course lectures, submitted your assignment and received your feedback via your interactive Skype session. We ask you to keep a record of the total hours you spend on the course, which will then be written on your certificate.

Members of both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia are required to complete ongoing professional development to keep their membership current.

By completing the Bliss Baby Yoga Online Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training course, teachers are able to accrue these necessary professional development hours as well as to gain the all-important knowledge and skills to launch them into this specialised area of women’s health.

For Yoga Australia members, 36 CPD points (Continuing Professional Development) must be accrued to keep your membership active. These can be accrued through contact or non-contact courses.   For online courses two hours are equal to 1 CPD point.  The Bliss Baby Online Complete Course, on average will take 50 hours to complete, so you will accrue at least 25 CPD points.

For Yoga Alliance members, 'Continuing Education' hours needs to be maintained through both ‘contact’ and ‘non-contact’ learning. Every 5 hours you spend on the Bliss Baby online course is equivalent to 1-hour of continuing education points.  So, if you take about 50 hours to complete the Online Complete Course, you will accrue 10 Continuing Education hours.

At the end of the course we will also include you on our online directory of qualified pre/postnatal yoga teachers.

PLEASE NOTE that our Bliss Baby Yoga training courses are designed as post-graduate study for qualified yoga teachers, and are not alone designed to qualify graduates to teach prenatal / postnatal yoga classes to the public if they are not yet a qualified yoga teacher (having completed a minimum Level 1 / 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training). The pre-requisiste to enrol in our courses is at least 6-12 months consistent prior yoga practice experience - so that you are familiar with the basic postures / practices / terminology and can therefore gain the most from this training. We strongly recommend undertaking a 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training in addition to our specialised teaching before teaching any public classes, so that you can be insured as a qualified yoga teacher.

How does the course work?

After you've enrolled and we've confirmed your payment for the course, you'll be sent an email providing you with you with links to download all of your online course materials - audio lecture files, videos, and written materials

You’ll have 6 lectures to listen to, and one Video lecture, if you are doing the Complete Course, or 2 lectures if you are doing the Postnatal Course. Whilst listening to the lectures you can read along with the Course Manual and Course Guide. You can also have your yoga mat (and sometimes other props like bolster, brick) at the ready as there will be practical segments to some of the lectures. There are also additional video & audio resources to view/ listen/practice.

After each audio or video lecture you'll be assigned homework tasks to keep you engaged and ensure you’re integrating the information we’re giving you, and to help you prepare for the learning to come in the next session.

After you’ve completed the final audio lecture, you’ll be asked to undertake a Major Case Study Assignment. Don’t worry, by this time, this won’t be a daunting task, but rather a fun, practical way of integrating all of the information you’ve learnt by applying the information.

Once we’ve marked your Major Case Study Assignment, we’ll book a Live Skype session with you. This is your opportunity to chat with a Bliss Baby Yoga Facilitator about any questions you may have about course content that’s been covered, as well as receive feedback from us about your Case Study Assignment.

How long does the course take to complete?

The beauty of this online option of the Bliss Baby Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training is that you can complete it in your own time, to fit around your other commitments. That said, if you had a chunk of available free time, there’s no reason why you couldn’t finish the Complete Course within a week to 10 days, or the Postnatal Course within a weekend (subject to availability of Bliss Baby Course Facilitator for the Live Session).

Alternatively, you could pace the Complete Course over 7 weeks, covering a module (i.e.: one audio lecture and homework module) each week. Because we understand that you're fitting this course around other commitments including yoga teaching, working, or being a mother, there is no time limit on when you must complete the course. How you pace it, well, that’s up to you, and what works best for your lifestyle.

In 2005 Ana founded Bliss Baby Yoga, which now offers Prenatal, Postnatal and Restorative Yoga Teacher Training courses across Australia, internationally and online! She is also a guest teacher for Byron Yoga Centre’s teacher training courses, offering lectures on yoga for women’s health and restorative yoga.

In 2013, Ana also founded Moving with the Moon which offers workshops and classes on yoga for the menstrual cycle, menopause and fertility. She is currently writing a book, “Moving with the Moon: Nurturing Yoga, Movement and Meditation for Every Phase of your Menstrual Cycle”, due for release in late 2017. An advance chapter "The Dark Moon - Nurturing Yoga for Healthy Menstruation" is now available as an E-Book, with beautiful yoga sequences as well as pranayama, relaxation and meditation audio tracks, specifically designed for menstruation.

The online courses have been written and recorded by Ana Davis. Online course students will experience audio lectures with Ana, as well as see Ana teaching a real Prenatal Yoga class and Mums n Bubs Yoga class, demonstrating how to incorporate baby in yoga postures, and the Pawanmuktasana sequence and Prenatal Sun Salutations.

Kind words about Ana from our Online Course graduates:

"Ana – you are such an amazing and gifted person and teacher. We’re all lucky you discovered your calling and can share your knowledge with us. Your communication is really clear, and your voice is so pleasant and easy to listen to that the audio lectures were a real pleasure."

"I loved Ana and the way she taught and how knowledgeable she is. I looked at a lot of online classes for this and was very happy I decided to take this one."

Anna Watts Anna Watts has been a beloved guest teacher for Bliss Baby Yoga courses throughout Australia for some years now. Anna, a mother to two beautiful, adult daughters, is a professional Childbirth Educator and Doula Trainer who has been working with pregnant women and couples for over 25 years. Her wide experience includes a Diploma in Childbirth Education, Diploma in Counseling, Cert IV Training & Assessment, training prenatal yoga teachers, facilitating birth classes, prenatal yoga and supporting many births as a doula.

Anna shares her wisdom on birth through the the video lecture "Stages of Labour" as well as the "Celebration of Birth" yoga nidra and birth visualisation audio as part of our Online Complete: Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training course.

Kind words about Anna from our Online Course graduates:

“I liked the info on stages of labour by Anna Watts, as I’m currently pregnant myself and have been avoiding research on this area (I thought it might freak me out!). But session 5 has actually reassured, rather than frightened me. I am feeling better about my own impending labour.”

“Anna Watts is the warmest and most gentle person and that really comes across in the video! Anyone who has her as a doula would be so lucky.”

“Anna – you are also wonderful. Watching and listening to you in the video lecture was one of the most memorable parts of the course for me, your explanations and commentary throughout was really gentle, nurturing and accessible. (I was watching it through the eyes of a newish mum who had a very difficult birth). I feel if I am ever pregnant again, I will be more confident about the birth process, and a lot of this has to do with seeing that video and hearing your commentary and input.”

Star DespresStar Despres is a devoted yogini, practising since she was 19 and teaching since 2006. She is a Senior Byron Yoga Centre qualified Teacher and Teacher Trainer, has been facilitating Bliss Baby Yoga Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training courses throughout Australia since 2010.

Star’s passions rest in inspiring and empowering women to reconnect with the divine feminine, no matter what stage of life they are in, and assisting them to find a more nurturing approach to life. She especially loves to support women through pregnancy, the postnatal period and times of exhaustion and depletion via the practise of Restorative Yoga and daily self care rituals. She is also the founder of Divine Star, an Online sanctuary for women to reconnect to their authentic selves. Her greatest role is as a mama of 2 daughters (17 years apart), and continues to fine tune the balance of work and Mamahood whilst also honouring her own needs.

Our Online Prenatal and Postnatal course trainees will have the opportunity to meet Star (or Rosie) face-to-face during the final one-on-one Skype session.

Kind words about Star from our course graduates:

"I loved my Skype session with Star! It was great to talk to someone so passionate. I liked her useful suggestions and it was good to know that what I’m doing is ‘right’."

"I loved Star's gentleness and genuine interest in women's wellbeing."

"I thought (the Skype session) was the most important aspect of the whole course. It was so beneficial to chat to someone who has a wealth of experience and background in prenatal and postnatal yoga and training."

RosieRosie Matheson (originally from Byron Bay) is one of the few fertility yoga teachers actively practicing in the USA. She is an expert in women’s yoga, teaching classes and workshops in yoga for fertility, healthy menstruation, as well as yoga for both pre- and post-natal phases. Rosie has trained extensively in Hatha Yoga, and is a qualified Doula, with a passion for conscious conception, birth and parenting.

Rosie leads Bliss Baby Yoga Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training Courses and Fertility Yoga workshops internationally. She currently travels to Japan twice a year to teach sold out events in both Tokyo and Kyoto, and conducts yearly trainings in Australia, Singapore, Thailand, India and the USA.

Rosie is also the founder of "Women in Bloom" and will be sharing a session on "Yoga and Meditation for Fertility and Conscious Conception" for our soon to be launched Live Online Lecture Series.

Our Online Prenatal and Postnatal course trainees will have the opportunity to meet Rosie (or Star) face-to-face during the final one-on-one Skype session.

Kind words about Rosie from our Online Course graduates:

“I had my final Skype session with Rosie and her energy was definitely felt even though it was via Skype. She gave me some great suggestions for my teaching and clarified a few points. More than anything I felt that she was a supportive mentor, and as a teacher sometimes it is hard to let our guard down and open ourselves up to vulnerability since it is usually us people are coming to for guidance and learning. I am thinking of booking more Skype sessions with her – it was a true blessing to find this training, for so many reasons: the resources, the cost is so reasonable, the lecture format is timed on our own schedule which is perfect if you have a scattered schedule with teaching, etc and also for the personal growth and development. I do feel a part of the Bliss Baby community now...thank you.”

What past online Pre/Postnatal course participants say

"I researched for a program like this online extensively and was not only pleased but my expectations were exceeded. I thought since it was online there would be aspects that I would miss from the classroom setting but I didn’t. It was practical and accessible. The format was easy to follow and provided quite a few different ways of studying from hands on, listening, practicing with the study, as well as DVDs provided. I found the homework assignments were amazing because they enabled me to put what I learned into a program. The final case studies were extremely beneficial. Its one thing to study and learn, its another to take what you learned and design a class. Understanding that certain postures are contraindicated or not is one thing, but designing a class around it is another. It also helped give me a better understanding of what I should be accomplishing. I am extremely pleased with the program as well as the communication and level of experience of the staff. The program layout, expectations, and requirements left me feeling confident with my abilities and I am looking forward to teaching." - Dawn, USA / Uzbekistan

"I enjoyed the online course because it enabled me to work at my own pace and offered a variety of mediums to learn from – dvd classes, articles, online classes, cds and the course workbook/notes.Being pregnant whilst completing the course was a huge benefit to my own personal practice, understanding and becoming more aware and informed of the changes my body was going through.I felt the course was well balanced with the physical, emotional and spiritual sides of a yoga practice and covering the birth process is an invaluable bonus.I feel I have learnt some amazing tools that will assist me in my labour, physically and emotionally." Alison Kennedy

"Prenatal trainings aren't easy to come by and this is a convenient option that gives you a very professional understanding." Karen-Anne

"The case study allowed me to apply what I had learnt to a realistic scenario. Discussing the assignment was useful and a lovely experience. It was good to hear someone else's view of the sequence I put together. It was quite affirming." Stevie-Jae

"Many thanks for an excellent, thought provoking and inspiring course - I really enjoyed completing it." Angela

"I was so impressed with the format and content of the course.  I would highly recommend this course to any yoga teacher wanting to learn about prenatal/postnatal yoga." Michelle

"The combination of audio sessions, with the course guidebooks and the additional cds/dvds were the perfect combination. This allowed you to read through and look at the information/pictures as you listened to Anas’ tutorials at your own pace, go back and forth as required and spend any additional time you wanted/needed on any area of interest." Bree-Anne Tranter

I loved the course! I have learnt so much. I have been teaching pre-natal yoga classes, and I have developed much more confidence in my teaching because I feel more knowledgeable. And I love the feeling that I am helping my students.  I loved the teaching style and the format was great; it was helpful having the course guide to follow as I listened to the lectures.  The information was fantastic… a great way to learn, good mix of theory and practice. Ana is obviously so passionate about pre and postnatal yoga, and it’s hard not to catch that passion. It was a real pleasure to learn from her" Karen Buckland

The materials were incredibly well thought out and professional without being 'slick'.  I have done other on-line courses and the audio-visual was neither audible or able to be seen!  Very impressed with the layout, quality and content of the on-line course materials." Linda White

"Thank you for providing this great course online...for this medium has been essential as I live in remote Alice Springs, NT.  The Teacher Training has given me confidence to go and start teaching in this area, where as before I felt so unsure.  I have come away from this course respecting the benefits of pregnancy yoga as a valuable therapy for the mother and baby and would recommend it to all pregnant women.  The course was fun, thorough and placed the safety of the mother and baby at a high priority."  Joanne Gordon

"Just wanted to let you know I held my first mums & bubs yoga class today! Thank you for providing me with the knowledge, confidence and inspiration to conduct safe postnatal yoga classes. The class is such a success, it was booked out before we began, and I will now have two weekly mums & bubs classes," Andi Kiprillis, Berwick, Victoria

"I felt very satisfied with this course.  I felt that any support and communication was just an email away and all communication was answered quickly and efficiently. Ana Davis’ voice, teachings and explanations were excellent, as well as the whole presentation.  She is natural, down to earth and very easy to relate to."  Judy Walker
