Taking a feminine approach:
the importance of Ahimsa

Dear Bliss Babies,

Welcome to our Bliss Baby Yoga March Newsletter.

One of the important working principles of a more feminine approach to yoga is the ancient yogic concept of Ahimsa, or ‘non-violence’. This month, this idea of being gentle with yourself, which is the foundation of all non-violence, is threaded throughout our newsletter.  I look at the ‘ages and stages’ of a woman’s life and how yoga can support us every step of the way on our life-journey, particularly if we incorporate Ahimsa in our practice. We also talk with Kerry Solomon, a graduate of our 100 hr Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Course who has found this principle of self-compassion to be so beneficial in her own life as a mother and yoga teacher. And, popular Bliss Baby Yoga teacher and Fertility Yoga Expert, Rosie Matheson shares an uplifting visualisation for the often anxious period of early pregnancy that can help clear any negative self talk - yet another way of embodying Ahimsa.

Of course Ahimsa is also a guiding principle in our Bliss Baby Yoga Courses and will feature strongly in two exciting new courses that we are launching in Byron Bay this year – a new 80 hr Women’s Yoga Teacher Training Course in May and a new 200 hr Shakti-Purna (Feminine-Focussed) Teacher Training Course in November.   

New 80 hr Women’s Yoga Teacher Training Course

It’s been my dream for some time to put together a speciality women’s yoga teacher training in which my ‘Moving with the Moon’ work – yoga for the various phases of your menstrual cycle as well as yoga for menopause and fertility - will be the keystone. I will be joined by an absolutely stunning constellation of women’s health experts to cover in detail all of the interrelated areas of working in this specialised area of Feminine Yoga. This course will enrich your studies in women’s yoga and be a wonderful adjunct for those of you who are already a prenatal / postnatal teacher, giving you the inspiration and tools to work with women in other areas of their life journey in addition to the important stages of pregnancy, birth and motherhood (which are already amply covered in our other Bliss Baby Yoga courses). The whole experience will incorporate Ahimsa as we will stay at the beautiful Byron Yoga Centre Retreat sanctuary enjoying their delicious, nourishing meals – much of the produce picked from their gardens.
